January 1994, a group of people who care about wild birds and the environment in Taoyuan gathered and formed a community. Same year in March, The Wild Bird Society of Taoyuan was established. In June, we joined the Taiwan Wild Bird Federation and became a group member. Our mission is to promote wild bird conservation, as well as protection of their natural habitats. We also advocated “appreciation, research and conservation” of wild bird through various bird watching activities and continuously provide ecological and conservational education to the public. In addition to bird watching activities, proactive members assembled a rescue team, turning conservation ideas into action.

Therefore, in December 1994, the avian rescue team was founded to provide clinical care for injured wild birds. We cooperated with local animal hospitals to maintain the quality of medical care. In May 2019, we set up a wildlife medical center called the TYWB Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic, which is also the first non-profit wildlife clinic in Taiwan. We have two veterinarians stationed in the facility to provide proper medical care and first aid for injured and orphaned wild animals.

The clinic mainly takes in wildlife casualties found in Taoyuan region. These animals are treated, evaluated and rehabilitated before releasing back to their natural habitats. For future goals, we will continue to expand the wildlife hospital and promote the conservation concept to the public. We sincerely invite citizens to participate in bird watching activities and pass on the idea of wild bird  rescue and rehabilitation. With the effort of every bird-loving citizens,  we have, and will continue to make huge progress to wild bird conservation in Taiwan.
